In ancient times, when the post office did not have a fix headquarter, the long distance from Trento to Rovereto was interrupted by the nice little village of Calliano. Today, you can still find the "Aquila Nera", a historical hotel used at that time also as a distribution point of the post office. The hotel "Aquila Nera" was particularly famous for the delicious wine that was served in its guest house.
With the excuse to make the horses rest a little bit, both postman, and various travelers liked to stay in the fresh courtyard, where the landlord offered them fresh white wine directly from his own wine cellar.
