Past & Present

The historical VILLA LAGEDER is situated in the South Tyrolean mountain village of Sarentino/Sarnthein (17 km from BOLZANO) at a height of almost 1,000 metres. It was rebuilt on an old foundation in 1899 and completely reconstructed in a luxurious style between 2004 and 2006. In fact, there is a connection between the villa and the ALOIS LAGEDER WINERY the top-quality wines of which are exported throughout the world. My grandfather, Alois, bought the villa as a summer residence for his family in 1915. It seemed perfectly suitable since he needed a lot of space for his seven children, it had a spacious garden, a wine cellar and a hayrick that was big enough to accommodate a carriage and horses. In those days, one used a carriage to get up to the Sarntal - a long drive on the old road in the wild-romantic canyon of the River Talfer. Since those days, the Villa has served as the summer residence for generations of our family. I am glad that by means of a gentle reconstruction it was possible to preserve some of the old features: tiled ovens, iron ovens, old wooden ceilings, vaults, painted country chests, the simple softwood furniture as well as other basic commodities of those days. Until the end of the 40s, water had to be collected in front of the house from a large wooden feeder which was supplied by a private spring - the spring still exists! I hope I have aroused your curiosity! By the way, the house is heated by means of alternative energy - for the sake of the environment!

The VILLA LAGEDER has 6 apartments, 5 of which are let as holiday homes. Our property includes a big garden with an old trees population, where our guests are very welcome. It offers you patios and deckchairs on different levels as well as a barbeque facility.
