Vipiteno, the medieval Fugger town

Vipiteno is a medieval Fugger town with a captivating romantic and picturesque character.
The "Zwölferturm" Tower is the unmistakable symbol of the town of Sterzing and divides the modern part of the town from the old town.
The imposing Reifenstein Castle is perched high on a rocky outcrop resembling an island, on the edge of the moor land area of Vipiteno once dominated by swamps. Reifenstein Castle is not only one of the best preserved but also one of the most interesting castles in the region from an artistic and historical perspective.

The Multscher and townmuseum is located on the first floor of a building which once served as the seat of the former "Deutschordenkommende", the Order of Teutonic Knights, in Vipiteno. Furthermore, the exhibitions on display offer the visitor a chance to discover traditional handcrafts from the region.
The only Baroque castle in South Tyrol is now open to the public as a museum of hunting and fishing. Visitors to the museum have the opportunity to get a feel for the noble life and the role played by hunting in popular culture.
